This residence is conceived to address the growing needs of a small nuclear family. The client brief called for an earthy, organic-looking house with a villa-like aesthetic, that would create contemporary, comfortable living, rooted in Indian tradition. A humble, yet extremely practical abode has been designed using a simplistic architectural style that is not imposing, but is one that blends with the overall brief to accomplish the earthiness that is part of the brief. Passive cooling methods have been employed to enable an inherently green, energy efficient building without an overlay of artificial measures, while employing insulated walls and ceilings in the structure. The reflection of traditional indigenous crafts teaming up with a contemporary language of straight lines create uncluttered, functional spaces.
