Ahujasons Store, New Delhi

Category: Retail
Location: New Delhi
Area: 6050 sq. ft.

A retail store that celebrates heritage and handcrafted excellence.

Rooted in decades of textile expertise, this retail store blends Indian craftsmanship with the refined tradition of pashmina. The design reinterprets the brand’s heritage through a modern lens, weaving together time-honoured values with a spatial experience rooted in contemporary expression and subtle luxury.

The four-storey retail space unfolds gradually, beginning with an airy ground floor that invites visitors in. Curved architectural volumes puncture through the lower levels, revealing glimpses of the collections above. This layered design encourages vertical movement and arouses curiosity, allowing the store’s narrative to unfold floor by floor, like fabric draping softly across a frame.

The first and second floors offer generous space for unhurried discovery. Lounge areas encourage visitors to pause, sit, and soak in the ambience. Strategically placed consultation tables support personalised interactions, creating a relaxed and attentive retail environment. Each corner of the layout encourages meaningful engagement with the brand’s handcrafted offerings.

The top floor features occasionwear and heirloom pieces. Display units, designed as wooden trays with brass handles, evoke memories of antique almirahs. The lounge and display areas create a sense of intimacy, allowing visitors to experience the most intricate designs in a setting that feels both elegant and nostalgic.

A palette of locally sourced materials anchors the interiors with authenticity. Columns flared with textured beige paint flow into arches that seamlessly connect to the ceiling. Drawer units and oakwood tables—crafted with soft curves—mirror this gentle language. These handcrafted details echo the organic forms of the merchandise itself, lending harmony to the space. The store weaves together thoughtful detailing—from inclined display units and multifunctional columns to suspended handrails and ornamental wooden frames—creating a layered and tactile retail experience. Grey marble flooring with copper inlay grounds the space in tradition, while mirrors and carpeted zones enhance comfort and connectivity. Outside, a refined façade of slender arches in copper and glass reinterprets heritage for the present. Every element comes together to express a quiet, contemporary celebration of Indian craft.
